Smoking can lead to oral cancers and other deadly infections which only worsen the situation. It also reduces healing of the bone and soft tissue, causes bad breath and yellow teeth.

  1. Chewing gum is a recommended

Chewing gum helps to produce saliva flow, neutralizing acids and cleaning teeth. It also improves your motor skills which are vital to your health in general.

  1. Use a soft toothbrush & change it often

Using a hard toothbrush causes damage to your enamel which later exposes your dentine resulting in yellowish lime teeth.

Rinsing your toothbrush with hot water before use helps to soften the bristles. It is also advisable to change your toothbrush every 3 months to avoid infection.

Other forms of oral hygiene include the use of mouth wash, keeping a toothbrush in a cool & dry place and making sure it’s clean.

Dental hygiene is not just a case of formality but an essential aspect of personal health that shouldn’t be overlooked.
