How to Easily Remove a Minor Dent from Your Car

Car accidents and dents happen, no matter how careful you are while driving. But, a minor dent can be fixed easily with just a few tools and the right technique. This post will discuss how to remove a minor dent from your car.

Plunger Method

The first method to remove the dent from your car is by using a plunger. This method works well if the dent is on a flat surface, such as the door panel. You need to lubricate the plunger with water and press it firmly against the car’s bodywork. Then, pull the plunger back, and the suction force will pull the dent outwards.

Boiling Water Method

The second technique to remove minor car dents is by using boiling water. This method works well if the dent is shallow. Collect a bucket of boiling water and pour it on the dented area. The heat will cause the metal to expand, and the dent will pop out. Meanwhile, use a heat-resistant glove to avoid any injuries.

Hair Dryer Method

The hairdryer method is another popular technique to remove minor dents. Firstly, use a hairdryer to heat the dent for several minutes, then cover the dent with a sheet of aluminium foil. Lastly, use compressed air or a hairdryer in cooling mode to blow cold air onto the surface of the aluminium foil. The sudden temperature change will pop the dent out.

Vacuum Method

The vacuum method is also a well-known technique to remove minor dents. For this method, you need to use a vacuum cleaner and a plastic bottle. Cut off the spout of the bottle, tape the wide-open side onto the affected area, and turn on the vacuum cleaner. This process will suck out the dent in no time and if it doesn’t, make sure to visit professionals like Touch Up Pro to help!

Hammer and Dolly Method

The last and the most extreme technique is the hammer and dolly method. For this method, you need to have a hammer, a dolly, and a pair of safety goggles. Hit the backside of the dented area with the hammer. Then, place the dolly underneath the dent and hit it from the opposite side. Keep repeating the process until the dent pops out.

Removing a minor dent from the car is not difficult if you know the right technique. You can try out these various methods at home. However, if the dent is too deep or you’re not confident enough to do it, seek professional help to avoid risking further damage to your car.
