2018 has had its share of block buster movies from Black Panther to Avengers: Infinity Wars but when you dig deeper, you realise apart from the big budget films dropping left and right. There are those awesome movies that you could have missed out on and A Quiet Place is one of them.
‘A Quiet Place’ is a 2018 American horror film directed by John Krasinski, who stars alongside his real-life spouse and incredible actress Emily Blunt.
The screenplay was written by Krasinski himself including Bryan Woods, and Scott Beck, and is produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller under the company, Platinum Dunes. The movie stars Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe as they try to survive in silence from mysterious flesh eating creatures.
A Quiet Place deserves more than just an award for its gripping and captivating story
The plot of the movie takes us to the year 2020, where most of the earth’s human population has been wiped out by sightless creatures with hypersensitive hearing that hunt anything that makes a sound.
The world tries to fight back against the mysterious creatures but all ends in failure as they harbor an impenetrable armored shell making it virtually impossible to harm them. Over a span of three months, the remaining survivors including the Abbott family (Emily Blunt and John) live out their days in hiding and in silence hoping they don’t end up as food for the monsters that lurk in the shadows.
What’s makes A Quiet Place such a great movie?
The movie presents a beautifully well written and directed story that leaves you at the edge of your seat wondering about who is going to make the next mistake that leads to everyone’s death.
It’s brilliantly frightening and the characters do a great job showcasing what it means to survive in an apocalyptic world filled with death and suffering.
The movie itself is literally filled with almost no actual dialogue but lots of sign language and impeccable visuals. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt as always put on marvelous performance as they play the characters of a wife and husband doing everything they can to protect their children.
If you haven’t watched this movie yet, then I strongly recommend you run to the nearest movie store or streaming service to catch this master piece which has so far made $300 million (UGX 1,121,175,000,000) at the box office worldwide gaining a lot of good reviews with Rotten Tomatoes giving it 95% and IMBD 8/10.
