Nigerian star Burna Boy real names Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu Rex has surely set a mark on the BET as he recently won his second consecutive award under the same category.
Burna Boy emerged winner in the same category as he did in 2019 making him the first Nigerian artist to achieve such a feat as the Best International Act at the BET.
The talented singer was nominated alongside British rapper, Stormzy, South African singer, Sho Madjozi, Ninho from France, and a few others but was able to take the win home.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the award which was presented by the top British model, Naomi Campbell was done via a video call. In his award speech, Burna Boy in less than a minute gave his take on the way forward for black lives to matter.
“I’ll like to use this opportunity to say that sometime around 1835, there was a mission to turn Africa into a dominated nation. Now is the time to return and go back to the royalty that we were because, for black lives to matter, Africa must matter,” he said.
His win received a lot of positive reactions from fans, who took to social media platforms like Twitter to congratulate the music star on the big achievement.

Meanwhile, Brown Skin Girl by Beyonce, Wizkid, and Saint Jhn featuring Blue Ivy, won the BET HER award-giving Africa another stand at the BET awards.
In other news, South Africa singer, Sho Madjozi took to social media to accuse Burna Boy of taking down the ‘Own It’ remix which she was featured causing mixed reactions online about incident.

According to reports, the Nigerian star felt threatened by her after they were both nominated for Best International Act in the 2020 BET awards. Based on the claims by Madjozi, Burna had allegedly asked for her remix to be pulled from streaming services.
Speaking on her decision to “out” the rapper on Twitter, Sho told YFM’s Scoop Makhathini and Bontle Modiselle that she was not intimidated by the rapper.
“I know that, like, he is a bully. It is that thing of gatekeeping in this industry as if there can only be one African superstar on a global platform. I don’t believe in that at all, there is enough space for everyone”.
