His quote appears as part of JustWatch’s Why to Watch feature, which showcases personal insights from top actors to guide viewers toward meaningful stories.
Bryan Cranston on Everything Is Going to Be Great:
When I first read the title, I thought, “Oh, I hope this is going to be great,” and it didn’t disappoint me. There is a HUGE surprise in the middle of this movie that will SHOCK you. And it speaks to life itself. We anticipate people being with us all the time. You leave high school or college and you think, “My best friends and I are going to be friends forever,” but that’s just not the case.
Everybody moves on and you do different things. People come and go in your life, and that’s what I love about this movie. It’s aspirational, it’s hopeful, it’s sad, it’s sweet, it’s joyous, it’s family, it’s argumentative. It’s all of these things wrapped into one.
What is Everything Is Going to Be Great all about?
Starring Bryan Cranston and Allison Janney, Everything Is Going to Be Great is a deeply human story about family, expectations, and the emotional rollercoasters we all ride. With moments of sharp humor and surprising twists, the film follows a group of estranged relatives who come together for one unexpected weekend—only to find their shared history more complicated than they remembered. It’s a story of letting go, showing up, and discovering hope in places you’d least expect.
The legend himself, Bryan Cranston
Bryan Cranston first gained widespread attention as the lovable Hal in “Malcolm in the Middle” (2000), earning multiple Emmy nominations. However, it was his portrayal of Walter White in “Breaking Bad” (2008–2013) that landed him four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Cranston’s film credits include standout roles in “Drive” (2011), “Argo” (2012), “Godzilla” (2014), and “Trumbo” (2015), the latter earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. He also lent his voice to “Isle of Dogs” (2018) and starred in “The Upside” (2019).
On television, he co-created and appeared in “Sneaky Pete” (2015–2019) and led the legal drama “Your Honor” (2020–2023). In 2025, Cranston starred in the heartfelt dramedy “Everything’s Going to Be Great” (2025), playing Buddy Smart, a relentlessly optimistic regional theater producer. The film premiered at the Tribeca Festival.
