After the shocking revelation of Henry Cavill leaving behind The Witcher and passing on the mantle to Liam Hemsworth, who will be reprising the role come the fourth season. We are left to wonder where Cavill will be headed next, and also if he will return as our favourite character Geralt of Riva.
Well, it turns out that may not be the case. Henry Cavill will surely appear in the third season of The Witcher but after that, he will be sending his goodbyes for good leaving Liam Hemsworth as the new face of the show.
Diehard fans were disappointed by the news after it broke that Cavill was leaving the famous Netflix show but it turns out it was for a good reason. Reports state that the star is returning as our beloved superhero, Superman is already gearing up for the next role which requires him to leave behind The Witcher.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill will be forfeiting the long grey mane of Geralt of Riva, the monster hunter in the medieval-inspired fantasy. But that doesn’t mean the show goes with him. For the fourth season, Cavill will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” said Cavill in a statement. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”
Henry Cavill to resume his Superman duties
Streaming platform Netflix announced Saturday that Henry Cavill was exiting the fantasy series after three seasons in the main role, with Liam taking over as the character. Hemsworth said that he was “over the moon” to be stepping in as Geralt of Rivia. “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure,” Hemsworth’s statement read. “Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”
