Argentina Wins the 2022 World Cup In a Remarkable Final

Argentina won the 2022 World Cup final after putting on a staggering performance towards the end against a determined France led by Kylian Mbappe who wanted the title as much as Lionel Messi.

A game that started with Argentina leading in the first half with two goals to zero turned hectic in the second half and extra time as France fought to draw the game multiple times, ending in penalties. But with luck on Argentina’s side, Messi and his team took the title.

Fans around the world who wanted Messi to have a World Cup title under his belt are screaming in excitement with some already giving the GOAT title to the Argentinian who clearly deserved it after so many missed opportunities.

More than a decade of online batter and GOAT polls between football fans about who is the greatest player of all time has now been silenced. The Cristiano Ronaldo fans must be hurting right now as anguish on the international level was extinguished with today’s Argentinian win on the world stage.

For the first time with his country’s first team, Messi has lifted another major trophy, bringing a massive weight off his shoulders after so many letdowns over the years. Five Copa Ámerica tournaments and four World Cups had yielded little but heartbreak for Argentina fans watching Messi. But now, with an international trophy added to his already massive haul at the club level, Messi has done it all.

Today Argentina was lucky, with Kylian Mbappe scoring two goals within 94 seconds, everyone thought the game was done and probably it was the end for the Ballon winner but things took a different turn in the penalties when France missed two crucial chances sealing their fate.

Argentina took the lead through Messi and Angel Di Maria, only for Kylian Mbappe to score a late brace. Messi restored Argentina’s lead in extra time, but Mbappe again hit back for France, completing his hat-trick and taking the game to a penalty shootout. Argentina won the shootout 4-2, to claim the World Cup and victory in one of the sport’s all-time great games.

What a game this was. And indeed, Messi surely deserved this win. Argentina is now the champions of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and has had its ups and down with some of the expected strong teams taken out of group stages and quarter-finals only to leave those mad enough to stand tall.

Lionel Messi has led Argentina to World Cup glory after the most thrilling final in the 92-year history of the tournament. This game will never be forgotten.
