Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane just a few hours ago shattered Leicester City’s hopes for the Champions League after the Foxes found themselves in a compromising situation that saw them suffer an own goal a few minutes into the game.
Tottenham was able to keep its hopes for the European league alive after beating Leicester 3-0, a game that saw Harry Kane show off one his best performances ever.
As Manchester United and Chelsea are busy with FA Cup, the Spurs had no choice but to seize the moment, which saw Kane score twice in the game after James Justin’s own goal had opened the scoring.
The hosts took the lead after just six minutes when Kane’s terrific pass sent Son Heung-Min away down the left, and as the Korean tried to send back the ball, his shot took a wicked deflection off Justin and beat Kasper Schmeichel at his near post.
The Foxes tried to make as many attacks as possible to try and open up the Spur’s side, with Jamie Vardy proving a constant threat though Hugo Lloris was able to put a stop to Ayoze Perez volley.
Harry Kane was the answer Spur’s needed to secure their hopes for the European league
However, Kane’s performance during the game, which saw him make a double, sealed Leicester’s fate by end of half-time. First, the England captain raced the length of the field to cap a lightning Spurs break with a smart left-footed finish into the far corner.
Then, two minutes later, he produced a wonderful curling effort from a tight angle that gave Schmeichel no chance and made it 3-0.
Brendan Rodgers reacted by sending on Demarai Gray at half-time and the winger tested Lloris with a dipping free-kick that the Frenchman had to help over the bar.
