COVID-19 has greatly impacted the sports leagues all over the globe with many postponing their activities. However, the Premier League seems to be planning a come back for the 2019-20 season by late July.
According to Sports Business Daily, the Premier League hopes to resume its suspended 2019-20 season if the U.K. government approves it, allowing it to complete the remaining 92 matches at approved stadiums.
The aim of the Premier League is to see the season return by June 8, with it ending by July 27, while the next season will be set to return in less than four weeks later, on August 22.
One of the biggest obstacles to the sports events right now is the lack of widespread testing, especially for those where many of the players are always in close contact with one another during games, including the team staff that works with them. This means, there is a high possibility of the coronavirus still spreading quickly even with tougher measures put in place.
So, the possibility of the U.K. government giving a green light for the Premier League season to resume is very slim since no cure has been developed yet, and no concrete widespread testing measures have been brought forward.

The Coronavirus is still a huge threat, and it seems many players are not ready to get back into action yet as they fear their families are at risk of contracting the virus too. At the same time, there has been an idea floating around about the Bio-Dome approach whereby players will remain quarantined from the rest of the population as they play their games out.
The Bio-Dome idea, however, wasn’t gladly accepted since players weren’t willing to be separated from their loved ones for long periods of time, and it will still be difficult to justify the kind of testing necessary to allow players to return to work when the communities in which their teams reside don’t have similar access to testing.
The chances of the English league resuming are still very slim, as there are many questions that need to be addressed before sports can safely return to normal. The risk of the players catching the virus is still too high as there is no clear and practical plan to combat the current threat.
If the games resume and more players end up getting sick, sports will be put on hold for a long period of time until a vaccine is developed and implemented worldwide.
