Spain Fires Manager Before World Cup

With hours remaining for the greatest show piece in football to start, Spain rocked the entire world with very interesting news after they fired their manager Julen Lopetegui.

The 21st tournament of FIFA World Cup will be kicking off in Russia tomorrow afternoon as the host nation Russia host Saudi Arabia in front of thousands of fans.

And as the rest of the World is getting geared up for the tournament, Spain today fired their manager Julen after news had circulated on media that he had agreed to join Real Madrid after the tournament.

In any other case, this would not have been any problem as some managers have accepted deals to join clubs during the tournament, Antonio Conte joined Chelsea during the 2016 Euros among many others.

Real Madrid have been without a manager after Zinedine Zidane stepped down from the position just days after winning his 3rd consecutive UEFA Champions League trophy for the club.

The pressure for Real Madrid to replace Zidane before the world cup was really high and after weeks of looking around, they zeroed down to Julen Lopetegui a former player for Real Madrid who was in between posts.

Julen for Spain, played 26 games and lost none. This is such an incredible record that probably Real Madrid felt that they needed at the Bernabeu.

The decision to fire the Spanish coach though according to the president of the Spanish Football Federation was an obligation. President Luis Rubiales said that he felt the decision was an obligation to the nation after the manager had chosen to have negotiations with Real Madrid behind the back of the national team.

The announcement to sack the manager came after the president and the federation had had discussions with the players.

Fernando Hierro a legend at Real Madrid as well will take over the management of the national team for during this period of the World Cup. Spain will be hoping that Hierro will guide the team to a great performance at the tournament.
