December is all about the festive season however, that should not stop you and your family from watching some really good movies. It would be a great opportunity for that family bonding time over fried chicken, pop corns and soda.
December is one of those months where we get to see a lot of movies being released with some directly targeted at the festive season while others looking to make an extra buck since everyone is expected to be at home on holiday.
Here are 10 films you should definitely watch this December;
1. Ordinary Love
Joan and Tom who have been married for a number of years are challenged when Joan is diagnosed with unforeseen breast cancer. Joan’s illness strengthens the pillars of their marriage. To be released on 6th December.
Ordinary Love is a 2019 romantic drama film, directed by Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn, from a screenplay by Owen McCafferty. It stars Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville.
2. Jumanji: The Next Level
“The game is not over,” said Dwayne Johnson in an Instagram post in June 2018 announcing 13th December as the release date of Jumanji: The Next Level. The crew return to rescue Spencer who was left in the game.
His grandfather played by Danny Devito and grandfather’s friend Danny Glover join the crew transforming into Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart respectively. As they surpass each level, they realize the game has completely changed and the challenges are more adverse.
3. Uncut Gems
Scoring a 95% on Rotten Tomatoes even before its release date 13th December, Adam Sandler brings this movie to light acting all gangster as a New York City jeweler. He finds himself in an ordeal as he struggles to create a balance between family and business.
4. Black Christmas
The holidays are approaching and the students of Hawthorne College break off for winter break. Their plan to enjoy the festive season is disrupted by a stalker killing the sorority girls.
Gaining the courage to unravel the killer, the girls struggle to fight for their lives. Set to be in cinemas on 13th December.
5. The Hidden Life
Hidden Life brings to light a true story of an Australian peasant, Franz Jagerstatter who refuses to fight for the Nazis in World War II and this leads him to face execution on the count of treason. Released on 13th December.
6. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
The Star Wars franchise is still on bringing to cinemas on 20th December, Episode 9 which is set to conclude it. The question is just how it will end.
Fans are eager to find out how Carrie Fisher who plays Leia Organa, a central character will be showcased despite her death in 2016.
On 20th December, Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman will grace the cinemas with their outstanding acting skills. Bombshell depicts a true life story and the scandal surrounding Roger Ailes.
As the former chairman and CEO of Fox News and Fox Televison Station, sexual harassment allegations are filed against him leading to his resignation. This is a #MeToo movement in action and already having predictions to win an Oscar.
A clowder of cats called Jellicles compete against each other to receive the honor of ascending to a new life. The winner will ascend to a life they have always desired. Set to be in cinemas on 20th December.
9. Spies in Disguise
Will Smith stars in this animation as a Lance Sterling, a spy who works alongside young scientist Walter Beckett to create the perfect missions.
However, one of their missions requires them to turn Will Smith into a pigeon so as to create a disguise that will help them capture the villain. Set to be released on 25th December.
A prison warden has to face the harsh reality of carrying out a death sentence for an inmate who insists he is innocent. The emotional torment and job requirements create a toll on her family life. Alfre Woodard stars as the protagonist in this film set to be released on 27th December.
