Disney+ has been making waves in the streaming industry and fans were excited to see The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Super Bowl trailer reveal some exciting clues about what lies ahead.
Disney+ has become the talk of the town, bringing shows like the WandaVision to life that have exceeded fans expectations including the concluded The Mandalorian series which has gained a cult following.
The Super Bowl trailer clearly revealed that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will definitely be an action-packed series and also hints on the return of not only Daniel Brühl’s Baron Helmut Zemo but also the return of Sharon Carter, who may have been in the wind since Captain America: Civil War.
If fans remember correctly after Steve Rogers travelled back in time to be with his first love, he handed over his shield to Sam Wilson/Falcon at the end of Avengers: Endgame, but many know that both Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier have taken up the shield at various occasions.
According to Kimberly Ricci, a writer for UpRoxx, there’s bound to be a little friction between Bucky and Sam over who has the right to inherit the Captain America shield. In Avengers: Endgame, Bucky quietly signalled his approval to Sam taking the shield, but he also looked a little disappointed about the matter.
However, whatever happens between the two is something we are eager to see as their relationship evolves through the show as the new Disney+ trailer left some interesting clues, teasing us with what is expected to come.
You will also notice that in the trailer, there’s a moment where Sam and Bucky are apparently shown training with the shield following up Steve Roger’s memorial. None the less, the trailer doesn’t reveal that much about who may actually hold the shield.
Nothing has been set in stone yet and it could be either Sam Wilson or Bucky that may get to be the MCU’s next Captain America. Either way, it’s a question that many fans would love to see answered once the show sets off.

Several movies later, Bucky arguably got the shaft after he and Steve vowed to be together “until the end of the line”, says Ricci. ”That’s bittersweet, but also Bucky is not of completely sound mind after everything that he’s been through.”
That’s very true, Bucky has had a rough patch and him being the suitable candidate for the shield is less luckily to happen but not completely ruled out either.
Anthony Mackie recently revealed some eye-catching clues about Bucky having a shot of taking the shield, however, he got very cryptic while pointing out to Collider that Sam never agreed to be the new Cap:
“We don’t know that yet. The show, the idea of the show is basically, you know, and at the end of Endgame, Cap decided he was going into retirement and he asked me if I would take up the shield, but at no point in time did I agree to or say that I would be Captain America. So, the show walks the line of who is going to take up the shield and who’s going to be Captain America if Steve isn’t coming back.”
May be Sam took on the shield from Captain America because he didn’t want to hurt Steve’s feelings as there could be a possibility he never wanted to take on the role, which points to a possibility of Buck stepping up to the task.
Let’s wait and see what happens once the show airs. We are expecting it to have some comedy and drama over who gets to hold the shield. The show airs on March 19, 2021.
