Atomic Blonde, the movie about an MI6 agent, a role played by Charlize Theron could make its return for a second installment but this time around not as a theatrical release.
After 3 years since the release of Atomic Blonde, Charlize Theron is ready to make a come back in the upcoming installment about the ass-kicking MI6 agent, Lorraine Broughton. Though the first movie wasn’t a big success at the box office, it received a lot of attention from critics, hence there have been talks of doing a sequel ever since.
Atomic Blonde is an action movie about the eponymous character Lorraine Broughton, an MI6 that was tasked with investigating the murder of a fellow agent and tracking down a list of double agents.
The spy movie was actually not that bad as some had claimed, as it had some really good action scenes, a decent story and we shouldn’t forget about Theron’s good acting prowess which spiced up the film.
According to Cinema Blend, director David Leitch in late August indicated that rather than a traditional theatrical release like its predecessor, Atomic Blonde 2 could happen on a streaming service instead.

Recent reports now suggest that the sequel is early development and could head over to Netflix, with Charlize Theron obviously reprising the lead role.
It has also been reported that producers Beth Kono and Kelly McCormick, who were among Atomic Blonde’s producers, will return for the sequel.
It should be noted that Beth Kono, who owns her own production company Denver and Delilah Productions, also worked on Atomic Blonde and other Charlize Theron movies like Tully, Long Shot and the upcoming The Old Guard, another Netflix release.
David Leitch, who worked on the John Wick movies and Birds of Prey is also expected to return for the sequel under the 87Eleven production company, which he co-founded but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
However, this report doesn’t mean that there will be a sequel not until the studio officially confirms it. None the less, if the information is legit, we could see one soon though a scriptwriter hasn’t been mentioned yet.
Netflix has taken a serious stance on releasing action-packed titles and it doesn’t seem it will stop any time soon. So far, the streaming giant has given us the likes of Triple Frontier, 6 Underground, and Spenser Confidential.
