Bad Boys 3 is breaking records world wide with its box office opening making it Sony’s biggest R-rated debut ever with the sequel starring Bad Boys for Life stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
After several years of waiting, it seems like the prolonged release paid off for Sony this time around with Bad Boys 3 enjoying the second-best MLK weekend box office opening to date, after American Sniper.
Bad Boys for Life is leading the weekend Box Office opening stats with $68,400,000 (UGX 251,172,392,400) beating the likes of Dolittle, Dolittle and Star Wars: The Rise o Skywalker.
According to Deadline, Bad Boys for Life is leading with its $68 million four-day domestic opening which is 70% more than the $40 million projection the movie was seeing just last week. It is also projected to top $100 million worldwide this weekend.
American Sniper’s four-day MLK weekend was at $107.2 million during its debut which is still better than bad Boy’s $70 million just in North America, but it’s better than Ride Along’s $48.6 million. According to Exhibitor Relations Co., the $68M extended MLK holiday opening marks Sony’s largest debut for an R-rated movie.
Bad Boys 3 for Life shines as it breaks Box Office opening records
On Friday, Bad Boys for Life already set a record for the biggest opening day in January, with its $23.5 million breaking the record of $17.16 million, per The Numbers. Its also had the best opening of the franchise topping Bad Boys’ $15,523,358 in April 1995 and Bad Boys II’s $46,522,560 in July 2003.

Bad Boys 3 story centers around old-school cops Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett who team up to take down the vicious and ruthless Armando Armas, the leader of a Miami drug cartel under the newly created elite team AMMO of the Miami police department.
The film was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Smith, and Doug Belgrad. The film also co-stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Núñez, Kate del Castillo, Nicky Jam, and Joe Pantoliano.
Bad Boys for Life has also gotten strong reviews and a lot of good feedback from fans which is no surprise that Bad Boys 4 is already in the works.
