One of our favourite Cartoon Network childhood toons, Powerpuff Girls is getting its own live-action series reboot soon, with the show expected to air on CW.

According to Variety, the show will follow a story of disillusioned twentysomething superheroes, who resent having lost their childhood to crime-fighting and now are torn between the decision of reuniting so as to save the world again.

The show will be taken on by writers and executive producers such as Heather Regnier and Diablo Cody, while Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden will executive produce via Berlanti Productions. Warner Bros. Television will produce.

The upcoming remake of the 90s animated series, The Powerpuff Girls will soon be expected to air on CW though most fans are definitely having mixed feelings about it since not many animations tend to get the good live-action reboots they deserve.

None the less, despite having a few reservations about the idea, we can at least be hopeful since the live-action will be done by CW, the same network that gave us Archie comics franchise-based supernatural series, Riverdale, as well as DC universe’s Supergirl and The Flash.

The original “Powerpuff Girls” was created by Craig McCracken which follows a story of a Professor Utonium who accidentally created a powerful superhero team of elementary school girls named Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup by combining sugar, spice, and everything nice with the mysterious Chemical X.

The show ran for six seasons and 78 episodes between 1998 and 2005. “The Powerpuff Girls Movie” was released in 2002, while a rebooted animated series began airing on Cartoon Network in 2016.

Should you be excited about the Powerpuff Girl live-action series?

Given CW’s history of dishing out superhero TV series, we can only hope for the best that the network will do a stellar job at portraying the classic Cartoon Network toon and bringing it to life on TV.

The original “Powerpuff Girls” was created by Craig McCracken which follows a story of a Professor Utonium who accidentally created a powerful superhero team of elementary school girls named Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup.

Based on what Variety revealed about the show’s synopsis, it’s likely that Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup became distant as they grew older and are now faced with the decision to reunite and fight crime together again.

There’s a lot that hasn’t been revealed and whether the show will have the major villain Mojo Jojo from the animated TV series return but all we can do is wait. The actors set to play the roles of the three Powerpuff Girls hasn’t been hinted on either.

According to Vogue, fans have already picked their favourite actresses for the job with the notion that Riverdale frontwomen, Camila Mendes (who portrays Veronica Lodge), Lili Reinhart (AKA Betty Cooper), and Madelaine Petsch (playing Cheryl Blossom) being the best fit for the real-life embodiment of The Powerpuff Girls as they portray the girl gang vibes and also share similarities with the superhero series’ main characters.

So, what are your thoughts on this live-action idea? Do you think CW should take a risk with the project and see what they can do? Let us know in the comment section.
