For those that are not avid Star Wars fans, a question has been going around with some wondering what The Mandalorian web series is all about.

Well, today we get to shade more light on the subject for those who feel out of touch with the Star Wars universe.

What is The Mandalorian web series all about?

The Mandalorian (also known as Star Wars: The Mandalorian) is a space western web television series set in the Star Wars universe which follows a story of Mandalorian bounty hunter five years after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983).

After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett who were experienced warriors in the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian brings to a life another story of a bounty hunter who emerges to take on assignments beyond the reaches of the New Republic.

The timeline of the web series takes place after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. It has a mix of action, adventure and humor which has gained it a lot of popularity in these last few days.

Jon Favreau serves as creator, head writer, showrunner, and co-executive producer, alongside Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, and Colin Wilson. The show stars Pedro Pascal, who does a great job playing the role of the Mandalorian bounty hunter.

Pedro Pascal real names José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal is also famously known for portraying the roles of Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones and Javier Peña in the Netflix biographical crime series Narcos.

Mandalore origin and background

Little is known about the Mandalore warriors but the concept first emerged as George Lucas was writing The Empire Strikes Back.

Lucas and artists Ralph McQuarrie and Joe Johnston envisioned a series of elite, Jedi-killing commandos called Super Troopers, all wearing identical white armor and hailing from the Mandalore system.

In the classic Legends universe, Mandalore was once aligned with the ancient Sith. Together, the Sith and Mandalorians waged a destructive war against the Jedi Order and the Old Republic.

The fact that the warriors of Mandalore were able to hold their own against the Jedi tells you all you need to know about their battle prowess.

That character design was instead ultimately used to create Boba Fett. Ralph McQuarrie’s original concept design for Boba Fett.

The series so far has two episodes and depicts a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. There will be eight episodes in the first season and it has already been renewed for a second season.

If you haven’t watched it yet, we recommend you do if you like space western actions.
