Elon Musk and Grimes Change Their Baby’s Name to Roman Numerals

If you think naming your baby is hard, then you should consult Elon Musk and Grimes for some ideas as the two partners have taken child naming to another level.

CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk and his partner Grimes real names Claire Elise Boucher, recently changed their child’s name to something else since the recent name was something most people wouldn’t pronounce at all. But don’t hold your hopes up, because the new one isn’t any easier either.

Elon and Grimes changed their firstborn child’s name from “X Æ A-12” to “X Æ AXii.” As you can plainly see, we were all hoping it was going to be something pronounceable but the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

The media caught up on the news after an Instagram post on Sunday was shared by singer, Grimes confirming that the baby formerly known as X Æ A-12, would now be known as “X Æ AXii.” The singer gave no explanation for the name change, and as to why they are using Roman Numerals, but later responded to a post asking if the alteration was made to comply with a California law that holds only the 26 letters of the alphabet can be used for child names.

“Roman numerals. Looks better tbh,” Grimes wrote.

Elon Musk and Grimes take the world by storm by their baby names

The two couples have been trying to find the meaning behind the name but Grimes later explained that Æ is the Elven spelling of AI (for artificial intelligence) and explained “X” stands for “the unknown variable”.

“It’s just X, like the letter X. Then AI. Like how you said the letter A then I,” wrote Grimes on Thursday in response to a query on Instagram. But Tesla and SpaceX founder Musk told podcast host Joe Rogan a different story: “I mean it’s just X, the letter X. And then, the Æ is, like, pronounced ‘Ash’… and then, A-12, A-12 is my contribution.”

The father of five has, however, given credit to his partner for being creative and coming up with something really meaningful for their baby’s name. Musk already has five children – Griffin and Xavier and triplets Damian, Saxon and Kai.

“First of all, my partner is the one that, actually, mostly, came up with the name,” the Tesla and SpaceX CEO said. “Yeah, she’s great at names.”
