Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago To Regulate Bodaboda Industry

Erias Lukwago, the Kampala Lord Mayor announced last week that he plans to pass a law regulating bodaboda operations in the city mainly to reduce the murders blamed on less regulated industry.

He further said that Boda riders are believed to commit several of the high crimes reported in the city just like the brutal murder of the late AIGP Felix Kaweesi by men riding on motorcycles.

The mayor says that crimes aside, bodabodas are also a big nuisance on the streets in Kampala.

They do not respect road signs, traffic lights, zebra crossings, pavements, speed limits, one-way roads, use of reflector jackets and helmets which in most cases lead to fatal either crippling or most times unsurvivable accidents.
