Anticipated Spotify Music Pro Plan Could Launch in 2025

Music streaming has become bread and butter for many audiophiles, with Spotify among those huge players in the market that have captured the ears of many. Now, here’s the kicker, if you were worried about the price hikes last year then get yourself ready for a change in tier plans.

Considered and rumoured to be Spotify’s most expensive tier plan, even though it has taken its sweet time getting here, with several reports here and there about its eventual release but with no show. The Spotify Music Pro plan is reported to be launching later this year.

According to a Bloomberg report, the Spotify Music Pro plan will be $6 more expensive than the existing Spotify Premium which offers four tiers that include the Individual ($11.99/month), Duo ($16.99/month), Family ($19.99/month), and Student ($5.99/month).

Why the Pro plan? Well, it’s rumoured that the Spotify Music Pro plan will offer higher quality audio, pre-sale concert tickets and tools that let subscribers edit songs as if they were a DJ at a party. The pro plan will also allow you to speed up or mash up songs how you like with no worry. The new plan will be more basic at first, and will keep adding features over time.

Is the Spotify Music Pro plan worth the upgrade?

You are asking that question everyone is probably having on the mind. Is the Spotify Music Pro plan worth the upgrade? Well, if you’re a DJ or one of those serious audiophiles that wants a rich music listening experience, then it is the right fit for you. But the question is, if you’re already getting the same experience from else where, would you change?

Honestly, if Tidal, Apple Music, YouTube Music, SoundCloud and any other music streaming platform is offering similar features with high-definition audio, then it is not worth it unless Spotify is your main music streaming platform and are not interested in making a change.

As of now, Spotify is said to have already secured rights for the new tier from Universal and Warner, but not Sony as it has not yet said a word about it, yet. Record label executives are already jumping at the idea and want it out as soon as possible, which is no surprise (if you get what we mean).

Much as a new streaming plan isn’t a bad idea, the problem is, if it gets popular, then other streaming platforms like Amazon and Apple Music might start getting funny ideas too, and before we know it, we get locked out of essential features behind paywalls.

On the bright side, if the Pro plan becomes a success, this could mean more revenue for the record labels, but we can’t say the same for the music artists that actually do the work. After all, it’s no surprise or news when it comes to the circulated reports about music artists being cheated or underpaid for their work as record labels pocket most of the cash.

It is not clear yet whether this Pro plan will be restricted to certain regions or be a worldwide release, but with different pricing structures. Time will tell. Let’s wait and see what happens once the Pro plan finally drops. What are your thoughts on this, do you think it’s a good idea?
