Oliver Mtukudzi rocked Kampala last Friday evening at Imperial Royale Hotel during the, ‘Lock Down’ concert where he showed off his formidable talent and musical magic to a large crowd.

The legendary Zimbabwean singer alongside other artists like Pompi, Zambia and Kenyan Kanjii Zmbagua coupled with comedians Anne Kansiime and Pablo, put on a powerful performance which left the crowd yearning for more.

The concert was filled with excited fans as hit songs like Nelia, were played. Mtukudzi didn’t stop there, the youth were also served a plate of mouth watering music when the famous track Toodi dropped leaving nothing but screams of joy.

Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi is a Zimbabwean musician, businessman, philanthropist, human rights activist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region. He is also considered Zimbabwe’s most renowned and internationally recognised cultural icon of all time.

Mtukudzi began performing in 1977 when he joined the Wagon Wheels, a band that also featured Thomas Mapfumo. Their single Dzandimomotera went gold and Tuku’s first album followed, which was also a major success. Mtukudzi is also a contributor to Mahube, Southern Africa’s “supergroup”.

After the remarkable performance put on at the show, we hope Mtukuzi visits Uganda again. This is surely a day Ugandans will never forget.
