A huge number of bodies are rotting at the municipal council health centre mortuary in Kasese town after several people were slaughtered in the weekend clashes between the Government forces and the Rwenzururu royal guards.

The horrifying situation has left many relatives and loved ones of the fallen victims in tears as they can not easily identify the badly decomposed bodies at the mortuary.

The repulsive smell and frustration is what remains in Kasese town as people try to find their missing relatives among the dead.

According to New Vision, the dead bodies are numbering between 60 and 100, and were picked up by the security forces and taken to various mortuaries within the district for a postmortem examination.

Several people have reportedly failed to identify the bodies of their relatives because they had decomposed and were now beyond recognition.
