It is now official as one of Kampala’s most celebrated events, Roast and Rhyme will be returning this year in February according to Swangz Avenue.
Reports by Big Eye suggest that the upscale lakeside picnic will be making its return in late February after a long year without action due to the Covid-19 pandemic which left many events on hold.
Roast and Rhyme was the last major social event in February 2020 before the global lockdowns took effect. The Bell sponsored event then held an exclusive weekend-long Game Park experience in December of the same year in Murchison game park.
Details about the event are still sketchy with little to go on but one thing that has been confirmed is that the organisers, Swangz Avenue, have set the date for Roast and Rhyme on 27th February 2022. The announcement comes just 3 days after the president announced that the economy will be fully open by end of January.
The sponsors for the event haven’t been disclosed either but we anticipate Bell making a return this time around. As usual, the venue will be the Jahazi Pier, Munyonyo since it has been a favourite for a long time.
Roast and Rhyme Returns In February 2022
As characterized by earlier events, Roast and Rhyme often features music artists, BBQ (muchomo), and a theme styled experience depending on the organisers. This time around, we don’t know what they have in store for their fans but can only wait for more updates.
The event normally attracts thousands of revellers and we are yet to hear from the organisers how they are going to handle the high influx of numbers given the fact that the country is still combating the pandemic. Only time will tell. Watch out for more updates.
