The Accountant isn’t just a movie about “accounting & numbers” as some may think but surprising it brings forward a touching story with action paced scenes. The story revolves around an ex-special forces soldier turned accountant who cooks books for the most dangerous people you can think of.

Christian Wolf (Ben Affleck), stars as the skilled and intelligent accountant who gets called in whenever a big corporation needs its financial records sorted out without the need of authorities knowing whats really going on. Ben gets to deal with drug lords, mafia families, tech companies and the like that find his services unique and admirable.

Autism isn’t a fun joke and neither is an ex-special forces turned accountant with a taste for blood!

Wolf suffers from a rare mental condition known as autism which was present from his early childhood, characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract concepts.

Despite this, he still finds a way to build his life into someone important by the help of his father (Robert C. Treveiler) and brother Brax (Jon Bernthal). Christian’s mother leaves and divorces their father since she couldn’t handle the hardships of caring for a special needs child.

Their father, a decorated special forces PSYOP (Psychological Operations) solider, prepares his sons for an extensive military combat training around the world and offers them the skills to protect themselves from the cruelties of the world.

Years later, after a rough childhood and escaping from a maximum security prison, Christian Wolf works as a forensic accountant at ZZZ Accounting in Plainfield, Illinois, tracking insider financial deceptions for numerous criminal enterprises around the world. Even though he’s diagnosed with a high-functioning form of autism, he’s offered an opportunity to live at Harbor Neuroscience Institute in New Hampshire.

What makes The Accountant a good movie?

Christian isn’t just any accountant, he uses the skills his father taught him and his military experience to protect himself from the dangers of his work as an auditor of criminal enterprises, a job for which he accepts payment in various non-cash forms such as rare comics, gold bricks, and paintings by famous artists.

With a few minor bad sides to the movie, The Accountant is still an awesome watch. It offers a mix of drama, action and a good sense of humour all packed together to make a great movie. I totally recommend it as a must watch for 2017!
