Netflix’s Witcher Could Be The Best TV Series This Year

The Witcher TV series has definitely made a landmark for Netfilx this year with the show gaining lots of popularity among gamers and fans alike.

Don’t compare it to Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings due to its folk tale story and monster scenes. The Witcher is totally unique and set apart from the likes of today’s over-saturated folk tale and monster TV shows bouncing around here and there.

The Witcher is a fantasy drama and web television series created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich for Netflix, and is based on the book series of the same name by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. It premiered on Netflix on December 20, 2019 with a second season already in the works.

Witcher blends what a few TV series have managed to do this year, and that’s bringing action, humor and good horrific set pieces together to keep audiences glued to the story. I would say The Mandalorian is somewhere within those leagues, but Witcher definitely kicks ass!

The first season of The Witcher show is an original interpretation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy with a massive Netflix budget which could make it the best TV adaptation show to come out this year period. For those that have read the books, comics and even played the video games, you could say Netflix has done a marvelous job getting this title onto TV.

The Witcher follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than monsters and beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a special gift, the three must learn to navigate independently the increasingly volatile Continent.

Why you should start watching the Witcher right now!

”The Witcher is horrifying at times, cute and sweet at others. It’s funny often, with restrained comic timing. It’s horny, like, a lot. It’s framed by a disorienting and complex political conflict swirling around in a massive cauldron of noun soup, but it’s all grounded by Geralt’s monster hunting day job.

Almost an anthology, we follow Geralt between villages and castles as he takes on dirty jobs for dirty people from every class and background.” – James Davenport, PC Gamer

The first season is expected to have 8 episodes with a second one already confirmed. The first five episodes alone so far have confirmed how good the TV series is and many fans can’t wait to see what comes next in the remaining ones.

If you haven’t started on this series yet, we recommend you do quickly. Netflix is not playing around and plans to maintain its lead with competition from other streaming services like Disney+ knocking at their door.
