Considered to be the most anticipated music video of the year, Kendrick Lamar has everyone singing and dancing to ‘Not Like Us’ after he dropped the music video on the 4th of July as a statement of his victory over the beef with Drake.
The ‘Not Like Us’ music video dropped 20 hours ago but has already amassed 17 million views and still climbing with fans tweeting and sharing their opinions about one of the hottest diss tracks to ever come out in a decade. The track that gathered lots of attention over the last few months topped the Billboard Hot 100, maintaining a top position for nearly eight weeks straight.
Not Like Us has been played in clubs, at sports arenas, used in skit videos, at parties and was surprisingly an opening number at this year’s BET Awards. This says a lot about the track and how far Kendrick Lamar’s reach has gotten ever since he released the song crowning him the title over Drake.
After months of waiting, fans finally got what they wanted when Lamar and Pg. Lang delivered the official video yesterday pulling in lots of attention given that it was 4th July, a celebratory day for the US. Directed by Kendrick and Dave Free, the video delivers exactly what we expected, fun scenes and a sneak peek of Lamar’s family dancing to the tune.
The music video captures some of the beloved hints from the song’s lyrics like the scene where Kendrick beats an owl-shaped piñata with a stick or the one where he gets slipped a bible that he tucks into his jacket plus the one having the huge crowd in Compton dancing his tune.
Lamar has definitely made his statement clear and for those hoping for Drake to recover from this, well, we wish you well haha! Is there anything you loved about the video? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
