What started as a rumour is not a rumour anymore, Charmed is getting a reboot sometime middle this year.
The show is being marketed as being primarily “feminist” by CW and will still center around the lives of three witches like the original one did except in this one, they will be called Macy, Mel and Maggie Pruitt instead of Pru, Piper and Phoebe Halliwell. We have no idea why they chose the name Pruitt.
These characters will be played by Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz and Sarah Jeffrey. CW is very tight lipped about the plot for the new show except that it will be based in a college town and in the present day rather than the past as fans had anticipated.
Macy is a genius geneticist, Mel is a lesbian activist and Maggie is in her first year at college. Macy is HOT, she might be a real audience attention grabber!
The old cast was not involved at all, yet they played a pivotal role in the popular 8 season show 12 years ago from 1998 – 2006. As time went, Holly Marie Combs (Piper) was one of the Executive Producers of the show.
She went on to tweet, “Guess we forgot to do that the first go around” in response to CW’s choice to make the Charmed Reboot “feminist”.
Holly Marie Combs said she hopes the new show is far better than the marketing so the true legacy remains. Reboots do better when they listen to a still passionate fan base which is what it’s all about and that’s why they do reboots.
“The fans are why we all get to do what we do. So we wish them well and hope for success,” said Marie.
Alyssa Milano who acted as Phoebe said she feels it is too soon and Shannen Doherty (Pru) had a lot to say on Twitter, but she hoped in their end the original charmed and its inspiration were respected.
