Famous American comedian, Dave Chappelle has cancelled all of his shows after he tested positive for Covid-19 recently according to reports by TMZ.
David Khari Webber Chappelle, 47, often called Dave is an American stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer. Chappelle is known for his incisive observations, and he has been described as “poetically unfiltered and sociopolitically introspective, with an ability to illuminate and interrogate agonizing and poignant topics.”
The stand-up comedian broke the news about his Covid-19 positive tests just before his comedy show was scheduled to start Thursday. Dave had since cancelled his upcoming appearances, a spokeswoman said.
Chappelle was expected to perform Thursday through Sunday at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, Texas. Those shows have been cancelled and Chappelle is quarantining, his representative Carla Sims said in a statement.
Reports reveal that Dave is asymptomatic and has not yet experienced any symptoms but he is being kept under quarantine as they monitor his condition.
Chappelle and his team have been performing at socially distanced shows in Ohio since June, and moved their shows to Austin during the winter, Sims said. The team also stated that rapid testing for the audience and daily tests for Dave and his team were implemented.
Comedian Joe Rogan was scheduled to perform at the shows Friday and Saturday. He apologized on Instagram to followers for the cancelled shows, saying they’d be rescheduled.
“Chappelle implemented Covid-19 protocols which included rapid testing for the audience and daily testing for himself and his team. His diligent testing enabled him to immediately respond by quarantining, thus mitigating the spread of the virus. Chappelle is asymptomatic,” the statement continued.
