Rihanna is mourning the loss of her cousin after he was shot dead on her home island of Barbados just hours after they celebrated Christmas together.
The 29-year-old singer posted a series of photos with her cousin to Instagram without naming him, but tagging his username. A local news station identified the 21-year-old as Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, according to reports.
“RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms!” she wrote Tuesday. “Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!”
The “Work” singer ended her post with the hashtag #EndGunViolence.

Rihanna has the street she grew up on in Barbados named after her Alleyne was reportedly walking home around 7 p.m. on Tuesday night when he was approached by a man and shot multiple times, Sky News reported.
He died at the hospital, according to the news site. The man who shot the star’s cousin has yet to be identified. Police have launched an investigation and are seeking any information to assist with the case, The Guardian reported.
