One of Uganda’s famous TikTok content creators Auntie Kaduuka is reported to be on the run and is believed to have fled from the Banana Republic for fear of being arrested by the Ugandan Police.
It is reported that a manhunt for prominent TikToker Hellen Nakimaanya, also known as Auntie Kaduuka Clowiewas was launched by the UG Police on charges of “obtaining money by false pretence.” According to Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigire, the suspect is believed to have fled the country.
“The latest information we have is that she has fled the country, but soon we shall be able to confirm this through Immigration in the investigations we are conducting,” Owoyesigire stated.
Word on the street is that Auntie Kaduuka conned some people of their money and is accused of defrauding at least 10 victims all of which are said to be living abroad. The details are still sketchy but what we know so far is that the TikToker took advantage of several people robbing them.
The case against Auntie Kaduuka was reported at the Bweyogerere Police Station, with more victims expected to show up according to the authorities. Owoyesigire also revealed that many of Nakimaanya’s victims reside in the UAE and have sought powers of attorney through local lawyers to file legal action against her.
“To the people out there, why would you trust someone you don’t know with money, especially when you are not in the country?” he cautioned, urging individuals to avoid trusting strangers with large sums of money.
TikToker Auntie Kaduuka On the Run and Believed to Have Fled the Country
Auntie Kaduuka was the go-to gal for Ugandans abroad dreaming of starting small businesses back home. She had a knack for making things happen, setting up charcoal stalls, and chapati stands, and even snagging some land with the funds sent her way.
Nakimaanya, as she was also known, built her empire of trust by sharing videos of the bustling businesses she helped create. Her early success stories had everyone sending her more money, confident she was the real deal.
But then, the plot thickened. Complaints started rolling in as Auntie Kaduuka allegedly stopped delivering on her promises. People claimed she was pocketing their cash, leaving them high and dry without the businesses or refunds they were promised.
Owoyesigire, warned everyone, especially Ugandans abroad, to be careful about sending money to strangers for business ventures. “You’re overseas, sending money to someone you don’t even know to start a business. You don’t trust your own family, but you trust a stranger? This has to stop,” he said.
The police are now teaming up with Immigration to track down Nakimaanya and are urging any other victims to come forward. The investigation is in full swing.
This whole saga is a wake-up call for everyone to stay sharp and avoid getting duped by fraudsters with too-good-to-be-true promises.
