MPs: We Want Minister Namuganza Fired!

Members of parliament on Tuesday went on a rampage and called upon the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to discipline the Minister of State for Lands Persis Namuganza for public misconduct.

The MPs also demanded that president Museveni fires the vulgar and outspoken minister for shaming him and cabinet.

The reason behind this request came after Minister Namuganza insulted Aidah Nantaba, the state minister for Information and Communication Technology by calling her a prostitute.

The angry mob of MPs was led by Kasilo County MP Elijah Okupa during the plenary session where they demanded that Namuganza be fired.

Parliament has had its share of dramatic episodes before but this time around, two ministers are at war with each other which has resulted into open criticism and public attacks.

Government Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa informed parliament that cabinet already took a decision on the matter of discipline or indiscipline citing a sub-committee chaired by the First deputy Prime Minister Moses Ali.

Speaker Kadaga directed that recordings of what Namuganza said be reviewed with a view of determining whether disciplinary proceedings should be constituted.
