2020 has seen a lot of outdoor activities get slammed and shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic but it seems events like Nyege Nyege are not giving up that easily without a fight.

Despite the pandemic putting most events on pause, and with the Ugandan government had initiated a serious lockdown and ban on most travel movements including passenger flights in and out of the country in the recent months, Nyege Nyege is returning yet again but this time around it will be more of a digital experience.

The organisers of the Nyege Nyege festival have decided to use the ‘scientific’ approach instead of the traditional way of holding the event at the usual Nile Discovery Beach at the source of River Nile, Jinja due to safety concerns.

According to reports, the dates for the physical festival will be announced in August. The organisers made the announcement about the famous event via Twitter citing how it will be a ‘custom digital experience.’

“Transcending boundaries once again, this year the pioneering African music festival combines a COVID safe party in Uganda with a custom digital experience, showcasing breathtaking music co-curated by 20 collectives from across the Continent”. They posted in a statement on Twitter.
