You Won’t Believe the Reason Why Kim Jong Un Blew Up the Liaison Office

When you think you have heard and seen it all, the world still has a way of surprising you as it was recently reported that President Kim Jong Un blew up the inter Korea liaison office was because of his wife, Ri Sol Ju.

According to the report by New York Post that was revealed on Monday, Kim Jong Un was so furious about the “dirty and insulting” depictions of his wife in an anti-Pyongyang leaflet campaign made by defectors in South Korea that he blew up a liaison office with Seoul.

After blowing up the office, the North Korean president also threatened to take military action against the South and those behind the insulting leaflet campaigns.

The pamphlets contained provocative imagery of the first lady Ri Sol Ju, which pissed off those in Pyongyang, leading to retaliation according to reports by the Russian Ambassador to North Korea Alexander Matsegora.

“The leaflets bore a special kind of dirty, insulting propaganda, aimed at the leader’s spouse,” Matsegora told Russian media outlet TASS.

The leaflets in question, that brought about the retaliation from Kim Jong Un have been used by both sides as propaganda tactics since the Korean War and were carried over the highly militarized border by balloons, and later picked up by the North Korean side.

The Russian Ambassador further stated that the pamphlets were Photoshopped “in such a low-grade way” that they became the “last straw” for Kim.

The liaison office in Kaesong, just north of the border, exploded on June 16 days after Kim’s sister, Kim Yo Jong, warned: “of a tragic scene of the useless North-South joint liaison office completely collapsed.”

The following day, Pyongyang announced it would resume military exercises, boost readiness in border towns and re-establish guard posts — its most provocative actions on the peninsula since it entered an agreement with the South to lower tensions in 2018.
