Manchester United found themselves in a tough spot after they missed a transfer window to get target player Jadon Sancho to their side.
“The decision is final,” said Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director who had previously indicated they wanted the deal done before pre-season camp in Switzerland so they could find a replacement for Sancho.
However, not all went as planned for Manchester United as they were unable to finalise a deal that would have seen the talented midfielder join the Red side but that’s no longer an option as Jadon Sancho is in Borussia Dortmund’s plans for the upcoming season.
The Bundesliga club’s sporting director Michael Zorc made it very clear that interested teams had their chance to win over the Sancho but since the team has now crossed into the pre-season camp in Switzerland, the doors are closed.
The England international – who is valued by his club at £108m (UGX 519,263,587,980) – is no longer available for transfer. Dortmund previously indicated they wanted a deal completed by the time they headed out for that camp to give them sufficient time to purchase a replacement, and Zorc has appeared to confirm Sancho will be staying at the club for the 2020/21 campaign.
Michael Zorc presser read: “We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season, the decision is final. I think that answers all our questions.” — Borussia Dortmund (@BlackYellow) August 10, 2020
He added: “Last summer, we adjusted Jadon’s salary to match the development of his performances. So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then.”
Jadon Sancho is not heading to Manchester united as earlier anticipated
Manchester United have not made a bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Sancho despite a club deadline of August 10, according to Sky Sports.
Right now, Man United is looking for alternatives as it seems they were not able to meet the bid price for Sancho and not forgetting that the team qualifying for the Champions League would have been the driving factor to win the star player over to Old Trafford.
According to the Football Observatory, Sancho is valued at £162m, while ransfermarkt.co.uk proposes a valuation of £105m using their own valuation algorithm. None the less, the player’s price tag is seen as unrealistic given the current coronavirus pandemic that has affected the sports fraternity negatively.
So far, United has been able to complete big moves with the likes of Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes in the last two transfer windows but now the transfer market is tight on funds due to tough financial conditions caused by the pandemic.
