Sheffield United Takes Chelsea Apart Beating the Blues 3-0

When fans woke up today thinking Chelsea was going to be the flag bearer when their team visited Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, they were surely dead wrong and everything didn’t play out as they probably hoped it would.

Sheffield United came into the game well knowing that Chelsea’s defence was going to be an easy pick, and that’s exactly what happened after the Blues failed to keep their side net locked.

Today’s win leaves Sheffield in the sixth place of the table, just four points behind fifth-placed Manchester United. Chelsea meanwhile stays in third, but if Leicester and Man United both win their games against Bournemouth and Southampton respectively, then the Blues could find themselves elsewhere on the table.

Frank Lampard must be pissed as hell right now after today’s performance but what could they have been done against the well placed Sheffield boys who fought hard to keep the game under their feet. They were truly magnificent in this game, and we hope they continue with such form.

Despite Chelsea having 74 percent of ball possession, that couldn’t stop Sheffield’s David McGoldrick from sneaking in a goal twice during the 18′ and 77′ minute, while Oli McBurnie managed to send in one during the 33′ of the game.

The entire game had over 23 goal attempts with a total of 8 on target, while the 16 were off target from both sides. McGoldrick was definitely the man of the match and he did his best to send the message back the angry Blues side.

Sheffield United was more than prepared to take down Chelsea in today’s game

Lampard wasn’t happy about the game and this is what he to say: “They were better than us. Physically; in the mind; with the ball. So we lost the game. They were stronger than us. All I could hear were Sheffield United voices. They’re good players, a good team, so if you come here and perform below par, it’s gonna happen.

We were too slow with the ball. It’s disappointing. I’ve got to be careful to over-analyse this one, we’ve got to put that to bed, and fight for the top four. But I learned a lot and won’t forget that. I’m concerned about how we performed.”

Apart from that, it’s hard not to agree that Sheffield United’s David McGoldrick has had a tough break in the English Premier League as he hasn’t had much luck when it comes to goals but this time around it was his day to shine, and we couldn’t more than happy for him.

The 32-year-old offers so much to Chris Wilder’s team, his link-up play and ability to be an ‘out ball’ have been crucial in the Blades’ stunning campaign. However, he has been longing for that precious first goal and in the 19 minutes into tonight’s game with Chelsea, it happened.

While talking to Sky Sports, McGoldrick had this to say: “I told the lads not to worry, that when a goal comes I’ll probably get two! I had a couple of chances today and managed to put them away, my first Premier League goals at 32. It means the world. I made my debut at 16 … and here I am today living my dream!”

Chelsea now has to make sure its last three games are top-notch or they stand are chance losing their top tier position to Leicester and Man United who are also holding onto every game as their last.
