Besides its recent wars against Ad blockers, Google has been adding several features to its YouTube platform and you will be excited to know that its premium offering is getting much more.
Though several people are comfortable using the free version of YouTube, which is great, the Premium offers a selection of benefits in terms of viewing experience. It does more than remove ads and let you download videos to watch offline it also offers YouTube Music Premium too.
Aside from the above features, Google has unveiled a bunch of new things exclusive to those with YouTube Premium and oh boy, they are enticing since those with premium get access to the latest features faster than others.
As of yesterday, YouTube is giving Premium users access to two new features with three more still under development but can be enabled by those interested in trying them out. Here are the features that have people buzzing;
YouTube Premium adds new features
YouTube Jump Ahead
Powered by artificial intelligence (AI), the YouTube Jump Ahead feature helps you skip to the most interesting parts of a video without a hustle. Once YouTube’s AI has analyzed the kind of videos you watch, it recommends the best parts of a video that are engaging or informative to jump straight into including a smart skipping feature.
Tapping the “Jump Ahead” button will take you directly to a section of the video identified by AI as a highlight, potentially saving you time and getting you to the content you’re most interested in. The feature is currently available to premium users but will start rolling out soon to the rest.
YouTube Shorts Picture-In-Pictures
YouTube announced it’s rolling out picture-in-picture (PIP) functionality for YouTube Shorts, which means you now minimize a Short and keep it playing in a small window while you use other apps on your phone. This is a great feature and we welcome it with open arms.
Smart Download
Still, in the experimental phase. YouTube is trying out an opt-in feature that allows users to download new Shorts videos directly to their smartphones without hustle, which is great since you will be able to watch your favourite YouTube Shorts anytime with or without the internet.
YouTube AI
As AI continues to revolutionize how we work and interact with the Internet, YouTube is re-introducing its conversational AI feature while offering a unique way to interact with video content. This feature allows you to chat with YouTube’s AI though it’s currently under development. This feature gives you the ability to ask questions, multitask, and find interesting content just at the push of a button.
New YouTube Watch page
YouTube is testing a new feature for people who pay for YouTube Premium on the web. This new feature is for the watch page, the place where you see the video you’re watching and other related content. Though details about the feature are limited, it’s reported the new watch page will make it simpler to find interesting new videos to watch and chat with other viewers in the comments section.
