Nigerian Actress Ini Edo Launches Digital Empowerment Programme for Young African Women

Nollywood actress, Ini Edo recently launched an empowerment programme focused on helping young women with digital skills in Africa.

Ini Edo believes in empowering women across Africa and hopes to do the same with the programme she just launched which is aimed at assisting leading female entrepreneurs in advancing economic empowerment in today’s evolving digital space.

Edo recently made her goal known during the maiden launch of the programme while addressing beneficiaries in Akwa Ibom.

The programme is called Girls Empowerment & Mentorship Scheme (GEM Africa), an initiative Ini Edo started herself so as to train and mentor girls and female entrepreneurs alike within Africa.

According to Pulse NG, the training sessions kicked off with opening speeches and with seasoned tutors from renowned training centers in Nigeria leading the young ladies through intense and exciting digital marketing lessons.

Ini Edo hopes to empower over 100,000 women across Africa in digital skills

The training will progress online and the participants will be awarded certificates at the end alongside tools to help them start a career in digital marketing.

Edo, who was recently appointed as Special Assistant on Tourism Development by the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel is on the move to reach a hundred thousand young women across Africa.

Ini Edo started her acting career in 2000 and has featured in more than 100 movies since her debut on the entertainment scene. In 2013, she was a judge for the Miss Black Africa UK Pageant and in 2014 was appointed by the United Nations as a United Nations Habitat Youth Envoy.
