Tecno Mobile has started selling the new eagerly anticipated Camon CM, their first official smartphone release this year. The Camon CM joins the Tecno’s flagship Camon camera phones after the successful CX and C9 models last year.
This time Tecno joins other smartphone makers with a larger “full vision” 18:9 screen protected by 2.5D gorilla corning glass instead of their usual IPS LCD 16:9 display.
Is it beautiful? Yes. Are we disappointed? Kinda.
The new Tecno Camon CM comes with a depressing 2GB RAM, 16GB memory and the HD screen resolution is 720 x 1440P. With the powerful android users today and the HiOS 2.0 flavoured Android 7.0 Nougat, the phone will bleed in a few months from heavy app usage and maxed out storage.
The Camon CM also has a weaker 3,000mAh battery than the CX’s 3,200 mAh battery, the same 13MP camera, a plastic body, inbuilt battery and a meager 1.2Ghz out of its quad core Mediatek MT6737 processor chip.

However, for its price we were impressed with the quad flash on the back camera for better night images, finger print sensor, OTG support, rapid 4G LTE and a notification light that also doubles as the front camera flash.
It is still a very good-looking phone and if you can’t afford the Tecno Phantom 8, an LG G4 or G5 then you should get yourself one.

The new smartphone is available in 3 colours, Champagne Gold, Midnight Black, City Blue and according to Tecno, should go for around UGX 539,000 recommended retail price at most of the major official Tecno distribution shops in Uganda.
