Arsenal Hit 1000 Home Goals

Arsenal’s 2017/18 season may be one those fans want to forget but still it  has a few moments to reminisce about and not just the expensive panic signings Wenger had to do.

A moment of joy came over the Emirates as Arsenal hit their 1000 goal record for goals scored in the premier league home games making them the second highest scoring team after Manchester United which is in the lead.

The 1000th goal was courtesy of Shkodran Mustafi who opened the scoring as Arsenal beat Watford 3 to none.

The other two goals were scored by January signings Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang who scored his second goal in the league and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Armenian is expected to shine at Arsenal as he has now been involved in 5 goals (1 goal 4 assists) in 6 games with one less of his United career of 6 goals (1 goal 5 assists) in 15 games.

But Mkhitaryan isn’t the only player opponents should be on the lookout for as Mesut Ozil too had a moment of brilliance as his assist to Mustafi’s goal marked his 8th of the season and 50th at arsenal which made him the fastest player to reach 50 assists with only 141 games.

A record previously held by Manchester United legend Eric Cantona who reached the feat in 143 games playing for Manchester United and Leeds United.

Arsene Wenger at the moment is unpopular with the fans but this time around had a reason to celebrate as he reached his 700th victory as an Arsenal manager in 1222 games.
