Call of Duty franchise may be planning a return to World War games based on reports by the video game publisher, Activision.

Activision announced that it would be taking its Call of Duty franchise “back to its roots,” which suggested that they could be making a Second World War game.

Based on leaked marketing materials, this may help reinforce that speculation that FPS (first person shooter) giant may be heading back to its old style which some gamers have actually wanted for a long time.

An anonymous individual sent a series of promotional images to a YouTube channel The Family Video Gamers which supposedly leaks info about the WWII game Sledgehammer maybe working on.

The images appear to be marketing concepts for a game called Call of Duty: WWII, and show off scenes from the Allied landings at Normandy in 1944.

If this is true, then rumors of Activision heading back to making awesome World War games is going to happen soon.

During its earning call, the company noted that the futuristic games didn’t resonate well with its audience, and that “traditional combat will once again take center stage.” Battlefield already this is with their Battlefield 1 game set in the First World War.

So, let’s wait and see if these reports hold any water since the company is known for revealing games in April or May.
