President Donald Trump has vowed to fight against the recent US election results, which saw Joe Biden win the race a few days ago. It has been reported that Trump is planning on using the federal government as his main weapon of choice to contest for his seat at the White House.
As Trump’s final days at the White House draw closer, his more than determined to remain in power and he’s going to use the powers of the federal government to help him build a case against Joe Biden’s team. The move by President Trump to use the federal government as a way to resisting the results of an election he lost is something no sitting US president has ever done in American history according to The New York Times.
The situation got more concerning when the president’s senior Cabinet secretary said on Tuesday that Trump would resist handing over power to President-elect Joe Biden after legal challenges to the vote. “There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.
Trump also managed to get his attorney general to authorise full investigations into supposed vote fraud, with his general services administrator denying Biden’s team access to the transition offices and resources guaranteed under law.
Meanwhile, as the drama unfolds, the White House is preparing a budget for next year as if Trump will be around to present it, which suggests that his administration is ready to go to war over the validity of Biden’s presidency.

President Donald Trump has also taken more measures to protect his presidency by making changes to his administration as he recently fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper as well as the heads of three other agencies replacing them with his loyalists.
The same can be said for key positions in agencies like the NSA (National Security Agency) and the Pentagon where Trump has made changes with more expected to come, including the possible dismissals of the directors of the FBI and the CIA.
However, this hasn’t stopped the rest of the world, including many other people from embracing Joe Biden as the winner and next president of the United States as they prepare to work with him and his administration.
While speaking with journalists, Biden called Trump’s actions “an embarrassment” that will not serve him well in the long run. “How can I say this tactfully?” Biden said. “It will not help the president’s legacy.”
Even though there hasn’t been any evidence of any election fraud, Trump is willing to do anything to stop Biden from getting to the White House, which sends us back to the ways of how presidents in Africa and some other countries have taken various measures to remain in power.
“What we have seen in the last week from the president more closely resembles the tactics of the kind of authoritarian leaders we follow,” said Michael J. Abramowitz, the president of Freedom House, a nonprofit organization that tracks democracy around the world. “I never would have imagined seeing something like this in America.”
Seeing how far things have gone, can a similar thing happen in Uganda as we gear up for the upcoming elections, which many think are going to be a little chaotic with the current regime ready to use any tactic to take down Bobi Wine? Only time will tell.
