Uganda again has been put in the spotlight and this time around its not about Kanye West’s visit but rather the Miss World beauty pageant contest for 2018 which saw Quiin Abenakyo crowned as Miss World Africa.
Quiin Abenakyo made headlines as she was the first Miss Uganda to make it to the top 5 finalists. She was crowned as Miss World Africa at the 2018 Miss World finale in China which was a tough competition that had a lot of beauties from allover the world.
The 68th Miss World title however, went to Mexico’s Vanessa Ponce de Leon with Thailand’s Nicolene Limsnukan as first runner up. Abenakyo was the second runner up with Belarus’ Maria Vasilevich in fourth place and Jamaica’s Kadija Robinson as number five.
During the ceremony, US group Sister Sledge performed their 1979 disco anthem “We Are Family” giving the event a colorful experience for the viewers across the world.

Quiin graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Computing and has a passion for cooking with a dream of becoming a top Chef and a successful Business Woman. Her proudest moment was when she participated in the New York Fashion week.
According to Abenakyo, her favourite film is ‘Coming to America’ and her best meal is matooke with groundnut sauce. She also enjoys reading and travelling. Personal Motto: ‘If you believe, you can achieve.’
