Uganda doesn’t seem to run out of ideas – based on a recent report on 16th February 2017; it will soon launch its first space observer called Cadimella. Capt. Chris Nsamba, the Chief Executive Officer and founder of the African Space Research Program (ASRP) revealed.
Nsamba and his team demonstrated the capabilities of the new space observer to the Vice President, Edward Sekandi who was very impressed and later promised to brief the president about it.
Nsamba’s team revealed that Cadimella will be tracked by satellite and will have a self-defence, anti-time missile feature to protect it from hostile attacks in case it crosses into the air space of another country.
The space observer is also fitted with cameras, a thermometer and Global Positioning System (GPS) trackers. The cameras will used to take pictures of Uganda from space while in orbit the team revealed.
Nsamba’s team plans to launch the space probe with a mouse to see whether it will survive the conditions and if does, they will send one with a human later.
Cadimella will be used to orbit space, take samples for research, and scan meteoroids and asteroids closest to Earth’s orbit. We salute the brave mouse that’s about to embark on Uganda’s first space exploration mission.
