Everton’s Marco Silva joined the recent head coach sacking craze after his team suffered a 5-2 defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby, leaving them 18th in the English Premier League.
The club confirmed Marco Silva’s departure on Thursday evening along with members of his staff after lengthy talks with club owner Farhad Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright at their Finch Farm training ground.
Duncan Ferguson is the new replacement for Marco and will be taking on the temporary head coach role of the first team ahead of their Saturday game against the mighty Blues, Chelsea.
Meanwhile, according to Everton, “the club aims to confirm a new permanent manager as swiftly as possible”.
Marco Silva has now joined the recent head coach sacking curse
Marco Silva has now joined the head coach sacking curse, as he is now the third manager in these recent months to be kicked out of his job. Unai Emery suffered the same fate with Arsenal after the management found him lacking in his role as head coach, almost a year after Arsene Wenger’s departure.
The English Premier League this year has seen a good number of teams change managers like skirts left and right citing poor performance as one of the reasons.
Meanwhile, some managers like Jose Mourinho can’t seem to get enough of English league and have returned to the same pit as head coach. The Portuguese recently replaced Mauricio Pochettino as head coach of Tottenham Hotspur a few weeks back after he was sacked.
Shanghai SIPG manager, Vitor Pereira could Everton’s favorite pick as a replacement for Silva with former Toffees boss David Moyes also considered.
Silva joined Everton in May 2018 and led the club to an eighth-place finish last season. However, the club has had a bad season with one win in the last six games and just 14 points from 15 Premier League games this season.
With coaches facing the axe day in and out, one wonders who will be the next one to suffer another serious sacking.
