TECNO Launches Its Most Powerful Flagship Yet the PHANTOM X2 Series

While some of us decided a while back that we will never buy any Tecno smartphones again, the company unveiled its most anticipated Tecno PHANTOM X2 Series recently showing off its coolest feature yet — a retractable camera lens.

News of the Phantom X2 series surfaced last year and now TECNO has finally made the bold step, releasing the new flagship across different regions. The company has also guaranteed two OS upgrades for the device which is a huge deal given how that’s quite rare for the other brands under TECNO.

The PHANTOM X2 Series comes in two variants, the PHANTOM X2 Pro 5G and PHANTOM X2 5G. Having a 65mm focal length, and a 2.5x optical zoom retractable portrait lens, the PHANTOM X2 Pro 5G revolutionizes image-making in the smartphone industry. The innovative lens empowers users to capture portraits comparable to professional camera shots with just a pocket-sized device.

The PHANTOM X2 Pro 5G and the PHANTOM X2 5G are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9000 4nm 5G chip meaning we expect the browsing speeds and performance of the phone to be top-notch. The series also features a unique unibody double-curved build and a 3.5D lunar crater design in three mysterious, space-inspired colours, resulting in an eye-catching look and a comfortable feel.

Speaking at the official launch in Kampala, Mr. Timmy Shen, Brand Manager of TECNO said: “TECNO has always been pushing to uncover the latest and best premium technologies. As PHANTOM’s new flagship smartphone, the PHANTOM X2 Series brings the PHANTOM brand to the high-end market with a pioneering spirit of innovation, inside and out.

It also reflects the brand’s solicitude for environmental issues with the eco-friendly edition’s recycled back cover. Following the successes of the original PHANTOM X smartphone, the PHANTOM X2 Series takes premium experience to even greater heights.”

The new Tecno Phantom series comes with a special partnership with Airtel Uganda offering all customers who purchase it will get free 5GB Airtel data every month for 3 months, and a 100% data bonus on all bundles loaded. The flagship is expected to cost roughly between UGX 1,100,000 to 1,500,000 for the standard version while the Pro version could go as high as 2 million shillings on the market.

Its better to hold onto your cash until mid February or late March, as it is often common for certain Tecno flagships to go down in price after a few months out in the market.
