Makerere University Business School (MUBS) students will be getting free access to the university’s e-learning platforms as long as they are MTN subscribers without the need of data bundles.
The students will now be able to access the university’s e-learning platform without any hustle through MTN Uganda’s zero-rate initiative to encourage learning from home.
MTN Uganda has decided to add MUBS online learning platforms under its zero-rated initiative which will offer students and lecturers the opportunity to study anywhere in Uganda.
It also means that no data charges will apply to the website as students and lecturers will be able to utilise the site to continue with learning and teaching.
“MUBSEP is now zero-rated by MTN. All MTN subscribers can now access MUBSEP without data bundles. For any inquires, kindly get in touch with the Centre via the remote help desk at helpdesk.mubs.ac.ug,” the statement from MUBS read.
Earlier this year, the National Curriculum Development Center (NCDC), lauded MTN for its initiative to encourage learning from home by zero rating learning institution websites for students.
Gilbert Gift Siima, the curriculum specialist ICT at National Curriculum Development Center (NCDC) said the initiative enabled students who were studying from home to access learning materials during the lockdown.
MTN Uganda Offers MUBS Students Free Access to E-Learning Platforms
Following the closure of schools during the initial country lockdown, MTN in March last year allowed free access to 17 learning sites in partnership with NCDC to ensure students study from home while also enabling parents home school the children.
Some of the learning institutions added to the zero-rate program include universities such as Makerere University, Uganda Christian University and Uganda Martyrs University among others.
